An appraisal evaluates the quality of an item or a piece of jewelry so that we are able to assign a financial value to the piece based on its quality. The appraisal usually contains descriptions of measurable qualities such as weight, markings, and materials and subjective features like gemstone quality, rarity, and manufacturing quality.
